Undergraduate students
Our BA programs encompass a broad range of subjects in the humanities and social sciences. Teaching on the undergraduate level at the Faculty of Arts takes place in German. Admission also depends on certified knowledge of the German language (usually DSH 2). The University of Bonn offers DSH preparation courses starting at B1 level.
There are further special conditions for the admission of international students as well as subject-related requirements. Please read them carefully.
The interdisciplinary International Classroom Bonn offers numerous English language courses and complements our study programs for undergraduate students. It is ideal for exchange students who prefer to take classes in English and German-speaking students who would like to enhance their English. Courses of the International Classroom do not lead to a degree but you receive credit points for the successful completition of a course.
Graduate students
The Faculty of Arts offers a distinguished selection of master's programs in the humanities and social sciences. Some offer a joint degree with one of our international partner universities. Some are completely taught in English.
There are special conditions for the admission of international students as well as subject-related requirements. Please read them carefully.

Doctoral students
We welcome international doctoral students to pursue their Dr. phil. in our Faculty's vibrant research community.
You need to fulfill the formal requirements of admission and find a supervisor. Please read the doctoral degree regulations carefully.
The Faculty of Arts offers numerous graduate programs which you may apply for.
International doctoral students also benefit from the Pro-Motion program at the International Office which provides counseling, workshops, networking and much more.
The Bonn Graduate Center is the central service department for all doctoral students at the University of Bonn.
International doctoral students may participate in the University's German language courses for free.

Support and social life
General information, practical support and counselling for international students at the University of Bonn before arrival and during your stay are provided by the International Office.
Check out the offers of Campus International, join the Welcome Days and benefit from the vast program of social activities at the International Club.
The Study-Buddy-Program provides peer to peer support and helps you to integrate into your study program.
The Department for International Students of the General Students Committee (AStA) also provides peer to peer counseling, practical advice and it offers numerous networking and fun events.

Housing
The University of Bonn offers limited places in student dormitories. International students may find accomodation there or they might share a flat with their classmates. The International Office offers guidance in finding accomodation and in navigating the market for apartments in the city of Bonn.
