Previous Research Conference

On February, 2019 more than 70 professors participated in the first research conference of the Faculty of Arts in Universitätsforum.

It was a good kick-off meeting of a series of further events aiming to promote the academic networks which fostered joint research initiatives. Furthermore, this conference endeavoured to extract the most suitable strategies for faculty development in light of the university's vision, to support cross-faculty joint research projects and to identify and promote contact points and connection options among individual research projects of the respective discipline. In view of these considerations, Prof. Dr. Volker Kronenberg, Dean of the Faculty of Arts underlined the mission of the faculty: to launch a long-term cooperation and ongoing exchange, through which the efforts to foster joint research projects in the next years will be sustained and the corresponding initiatives will be financed by the Faculty of Arts.

Approximately over 30 key-note speeches illustrated the thematic scope of the disciplines within the Faculty of Arts. Following the speeches, researchers attempted to fathom the common contact points by posing questions and exchanging their research focuses. Moreover, great interest was shown in the connecting points to the cross-faculty and transdisciplinary research areas, particularly "Individuals, Institutions and Societies" and "Power and Domination - Premodern Configurations in a transcultural Perspective". Therfore, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch, Rector of the University of Bonn appreciated various contributions and considered the research conference as a great impetus to initiate and forster further cooperation in research.

On January 24, 2020 more than 50 professors participated in the second research conference of the Faculty of Arts. The four-hour successful conference introduced projects accross institutes and faculties, contact points and connection options to identify different research projects.
