The great diversity of subjects at the Faculty of Arts offers an extraordinary range of opportunities to engage with the topic of diversity in all its facets with commitment and academic curiosity. Many players of the Faculty have already carried out numerous projects in response to the discussion on diversity. Here is a platform that exhibits all relevant projects.
Diversity Working Group
In projects, workshops, and activities, members of the Diversity Working Group seek to combine various types of discussions on diversity within university institutions, among academic disciplines, but also via cooperation with the city of Bonn. With interviews, questionnaires, and public lectures we would like to work together with those who live and work here. We are willing to discuss, reflect, and also induce change.
We aim to provide impetus and establish sustainable structures - only in cooperation with students, employees, and the citizens of Bonn do we see potential and opportunity to do so.
Projects of the Diversity Working Group
Diversity & ... mini series on diversity at the University of Bonn and in your city, on role models, vision and the future.
This mini series are considered a networking project between the University of Bonn and the city of Bonn. With interviews, podcasts and short clips we are willing to provide various concepts with regard to the discussion on diversity and consequently make these concepts more visible to the public. Diversity & education, diversity & politics, diversity & social engagement, diversity & world view... just a handful of aspects which we would like address.

Open air cinema in summer
In summer 2022, within a week we show each eventing a short film or a musical clip which lasts one hour and touches upon an unique theme. Within one hour transcultural variety, gender, social origin or sexual identity will be chosen as a central theme from famous or less famous scenes. In the end, there is time for open discussion.
Begin: summer semester 2022
In certain universities there are already certificates for gender or diversity. Currently we are developing a concept to ensure the acquisition of a certificate at the University of Bonn, which is started, however, at another university before students switch to Bonn.
Status: under construction.
The dean's office of the Faculty of Arts finances projects which centres on the topic of diversity. What can be financed is research project, teaching assignment or initiative. More enquiries on application for the financial support of different projects, please contact Julia Krings.
Academic Disciplines
The Faculty unites eleven institutes, under whose umbrella organizations various academic disciplines are connected. The subjects address the topic of diversity in a wide variety of contexts: From workshops to training courses, lecture series, or initiatives in teaching and learning, there are various events in which you can actively participate.

Reading on fleeing & education
As last year (2020) the Consortium Diversity will participate in dies academicus in 2021.
We sincerely invite everyone to the reading session on fleeing and education. Moutasm Alyounes will read part of his book "Die Wahrheit aus meiner Sicht" for the audience. After fleeing from Raqqa, Moutasmhas completed his final secondary school examination later in Essen and studied by now. In a panel discussion, we will speak with three other fellow students, who either are still preparing for a study programm or have already begun with their study in Bonn, with regard to the difference between the educational systems in other countries and Germany.

New Joint Research Unit Diversity at the Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts sets up a coordinating position with a focus on research in the field of diversity. The official opening ceremony of the Joint Research Unit Diversity takes place on October 29th 2021 in the festival room of the university. We bring you more information later on.
