Mid-level Academic Staff Members at the Faculty of Arts

On this page, you will find the contact persons and elected representatives for the mid-level academic staff of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bonn. The term “mid-level academic staff” generally refers to the group of academic employees or academic staff without a professorship. Alongside students, technical and administrative staff, and professors, this group forms one of the four so-called status groups within academic self-administration. The duties of academic mid-level staff and their legal basis are defined by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in its Higher Education Act; the term “mid-level staff” is not used there, as the group is defined by the above-mentioned status groups.

Vice Dean's Office for Academic Mid-Level Faculty Affairs

It maintains close contact with the elected representatives of mid-level academic staff, develops measures and support services, and ensures that the concerns of mid-level academic staff at the Faculty are continuously addressed and taken into account.

The group of academic staff is represented in the Faculty Council by two people and one deputy each. These are elected approximately every two years as part of the committee elections. They are in contact with the spokespersons for mid-level academic staff at the individual institutes, convene regular meetings, and represent the interests of the group in other academic self-governing bodies. They act as contact persons for the Faculty Management and for matters concerning the entire mid-level academic staff.
